Hotel Merian

My boyfriend and I stayed at Hotel Merian while visiting from the US for a wedding. We had rented a car with Avis, and got a flat tire in the parking lot. Neither of us speaks German, but the front desk staff were so kind and patient, and helped us call Avis’ German help line to arrange a tow. There’s no AC, which could be a deal breaker for some, but I’d absolutely recommend this hotel for its 5 star service.

The rooms were clean and tidy, with everything needed, including a Nespresso machine with 4 capsules and a big bottle of water. The shower was amazing, with both a regular head and a rain shower. I wasn’t keen on the sliding glass door, partly frosted, since it offered zero privacy. That might work for long term couples or open minded people, but could be a challenge for some. The staff were super friendly and personal, with little attentions everywhere. They were also kind and organized another night for us, even though it seemed impossible at first.

The people running the hotel are very friendly and make the place feel warm, with thoughtful touches like a welcome bag with keys for late arrivals or a welcome message on a chalkboard in your room. The modern rooms are lovely and comfortable. It’s close to Firedrichshafen city center and the lake. A few things could be improved: a fridge, a water cattle, and more protein at breakfast, like scrambled egg.

Good value for money, and near the lake front while still discreetly tucked away. A great place to stay.
