Rebstock-Gasthof

The rooms were pleasant and quiet, though the bathrooms are really tiny 😉. Breakfast could use a few more vegan and vegetarian choices.

The food was excellent, with Swabian dishes we probably wouldn’t find elsewhere, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Parking was free, but the lot is small, so we were lucky to get a space on both nights. We stayed two nights in July. Our clean, newly decorated room was disappointing for the price of over €100 a night. It was small and basic, with no soap at the sink until we asked. It was on the third floor and there’s no lift, which was a real struggle for my 80-year-old partner. Light came in through the window because there were no curtains or shutters, and opening it felt dangerous since it hangs over the bed. The bathroom was tiny too, with nowhere for large towels. Hooks on the back of the door would help.

Mosquito screens would have helped, since it was too hot to sleep with the windows shut. Breakfast was a simple buffet with cold cuts, rolls, yoghurt and boiled eggs. Our room was small but clean, though there was barely any shower gel left, which was inconvenient after cycling in the heat. A no-frills guesthouse.

The service was awful. We ordered food, wine and beer at the restaurant, and when our six-year-old got thirsty, he drank from a bottle we’d brought in our bag. They warned us they’d kick us out if it happened again, then did exactly that when he got thirsty again. It felt horrible. I’ve never experienced anything like it. Stay away!!!
