Hotel Restaurant Waldhorn

The hotel was well kept, and both the inside and outside looked nice. Service was pleasant, parking was plentiful and underground, and the balcony was really spacious with seating. The restaurant was okay, though you had to pay straight away instead of charging it to your room. There were some drawbacks in the room: no AC, so summer nights can get pretty hot, and the lighting used fluorescent bars. Breakfast wasn't anything special and there wasn't much choice. The location wasn't great either, with only a few things within walking distance. Our stay could have been worse, but a few things could be better.

We had a delicious dinner at the restaurant attached to the hotel, and it was great value. The room was a large, comfortable triple on the top floor. We could see a farm or field from it, and spotted horses and deer. The sloped ceiling did mean we kept bumping our heads, which was our own fault. Our two-year-old found it hilarious. Breakfast was the weak point. The bread didn't seem fresh, the croissants were undercooked, and the juice was quite syrupy. The only fruit was an apple fruit salad, and there was just one kind of bland cheese. It wasn't terrible, but it was the most disappointing breakfast of the five three-star hotels we've stayed in around the lake so far. If it had been a bit better, this would definitely be five stars. Maybe it was just an off day, since we hadn't seen anything like this in the other reviews.

There's a good restaurant on site, and the staff were friendly. Our room was spacious, though the roads in front of the hotel made it a bit noisy.

I stayed at the Waldhorn for seven nights. The hotel was quiet and comfortable, and the staff were friendly. It's a 15-minute drive from Messe and an 8-10-minute drive from the ferry terminal.
