The bathroom sink is propped up with a wooden stick so it won't fall, and the mirror is fitted into the artwork so high up that shorter guests can hardly see themselves. The rest of the place has the same neglected feel. The Lichthof has clearly seen better days, and the room, bathroom, and hallway are dirty, with some spots simply filthy. I can understand that the “caretaker” is running everything alone now, but the lack of cleanliness is completely unacceptable. What a shame.

The garden is beautiful, and the rooms have lots of thoughtful little details. We felt totally comfortable during our two weeks at Lichthof. Ira was incredibly friendly and even set us up in a huge breakfast room, with plenty of space for yoga and meditation. I’d happily recommend Lichthof to anyone after a relaxing stay with a fantastic host.

You can feel how much effort and passion has gone into making this place what it is. Ira created such a lovely atmosphere for our university group of 25, and spending the whole weekend at the Lichthof in Ottendorf left us with memories I’ll always treasure. Many thanks!

The garden is lovely, and the food is delicious. I also liked browsing the shop, which has souvenirs from around the world as well as regional products. Staying here is a different kind of overnight experience, and it’s absolutely beautiful and unique.

The owners are so friendly and wonderfully unconventional. We had delicious food from the grill, plus a great breakfast out in the courtyard. Full marks!!!
