The rooms were spotless, the staff were friendly, and the hotel was so cute. It’s an easy walk to the town center and everything else. We loved the place, though it was warmer inside than I’d like. Rain and cooler weather meant it never got too hot during our stay, and the fan helped. I saw other reviews saying the rooms can be unbearably hot. The internet worked fine once we found the switch in the kitchen, though speeds are somewhat slow, so keep that in mind for work calls. Beautiful spot, and a must see if you’re passing through beautiful Garmisch.

We spent three nights here. The location and views from the room were nice, but everything else felt average. The room’s air system didn’t work well, and opening the small side window let in a lot of noise without doing much for ventilation. Service was minimal, and breakfast was overpriced for what it was. I wouldn’t recommend staying unless the views and location are your main priorities.

The art and furnishings at alte villa are interesting and well designed, and the whole place has a nice feel, helped by the friendly staff. The location is superb, with spectacular views of the surrounding mountains. Cooking a full meal would be difficult since the kitchen could use more pans and similar supplies. There’s also a busy street out front, so with the windows open at night it gets noisy. In summer you need those windows open because there’s no AC, and it gets very hot.

The panoramic windows made the room feel like a greenhouse in warm weather. It got unbearably hot, there were no opening windows and no AC. A ski hatch opened onto the road and gave some relief, but then the nighttime noise was unbearable. The room was nice, though the internet didn’t work on the first day and I had to change rooms. A fan was offered at checkout, but we hadn’t known to ask for one.
