The breakfast was a real highlight, with regional foods, freshly cut fruit laid out beautifully, and plenty more. Our room was cozy and perfectly clean, too. The owners are so warm and welcoming, and you can tell they've put a lot of care into the place. It's a lovely castle hotel in a wonderfully peaceful setting.

We came as a group and were all won over by the setting, the owner's incredible friendliness, and the excellent food. It felt easy to relax here. The hotel is a bit dated, which is why I took off a point, though the rooms are very clean and work is underway at least in the outdoor area. If you're after peace and quiet somewhere special, this is a great fit.

The food menu is small, but the owner makes everything fresh to suit what guests want. Breakfast is world-class, and the rustic, historic atmosphere suits the old castle perfectly. It's a family-run place where guests are looked after really well. I stay here regularly for work and can highly recommend Schlosshotel Gattendorf.

At our Christmas party, the whole meal felt rushed and hectic, and we left very disappointed. The goose and dumplings had been sitting on the table for a long time and were cold by the time the gravy and red cabbage arrived, after a 10-minute wait. The fish was far too dry as well. Dessert plates were handed around without checking how many guests were at each table. The food and the organization of the waiters and service were both poor.

The breakfast was 5-star deluxe, and they were happy to accommodate a vegetarian request. We got a clean, comfortable family-friendly room with four beds, and it was wonderfully quiet. The welcome and service were very friendly. Thanks so much!
