The beds creaked, and the rooms were very old. That might not have bothered me on its own, but after what happened with the bill, I was very disappointed. We booked two nights for three people, including a child, and were quoted €110 without breakfast, which seemed reasonable. When we went to pay, the very elderly man said it was €240. I told him that wasn’t the agreed price. He got very unfriendly, changed it to €220, then tried to get another €20 from my wallet, saying he had just given it back to me. For that kind of money, I could easily have stayed somewhere else.

I’ve only eaten at the restaurant, not stayed in a room. The food is delicious, the service is excellent, and the place is comfortably furnished. I like the self-service salad bar because you can see exactly what you’re getting. The choice could be bigger, but what was there tasted good. We’ve held lots of family celebrations here, and sometimes eat here when the owner of the City restaurant is open. The portions and prices are just right. Definitely recommended.

The room was only partly cleaned, and the bathroom was basically just somewhere to use the toilet. I couldn’t bring myself to shower because there was mold above it, though I only spotted that as we were leaving. The room itself was okay, nothing special, but acceptable. The man who greeted us was really friendly and helpful, which we appreciated. Still, we definitely won’t be coming back.

Our room was ready even though we checked in extremely early, which was a nice surprise. The staff were caring and attentive, and the hotel is in a great location. It’s simple, with a retro style that didn’t bother us at all. We actually found it calming before the Vivawest Marathon. Breakfast was basic but enough, and you can ask if you need anything. Guests have Wi-Fi, with the password posted clearly everywhere. I took off a point because some TV channels were missing, but we ended up reading the manual instead.

The only things I liked were the breakfast coffee and the location. The room was filthy during our four-night stay and was cleaned just once. The towels were dirty, and my mattress was terrible. For such a bad room, it was quite expensive.
