Hotel Hansehof

My mother’s health took an unexpected turn, so I had to postpone my flight. I tried to cancel the room one day before arrival and explained what had happened to the hotel. She passed away the next day. I got no reply, only a rejection of the cancellation request, without even a word of regret. Then they emailed me to demand payment for a five-night no-show that I had never booked. They had already charged me for the one night as well.

The hotel was dirty and didn't feel cozy. When we asked at reception for a place in their parking basement, they said our car was too big. It's a normal-sized car, so the parking lot must be VERY small. The one good thing is that it's quiet and not far from Reeperbahn.

The check-in machine was another frustration. Instead of checking us in, staff sent us to a touchscreen that didn’t work properly and made us enter details we’d already provided with the booking. The bigger problem was having no internet for the entire stay, despite it being advertised. I had four devices with me and couldn’t use most of them as intended. When I raised it, staff either ignored me or shrugged, with no offer to investigate. That felt completely unacceptable, and the staff came across as lazy and patronising. I’d stay away.

We stayed in two different rooms, and both were perfectly fine. A good basic hotel at a very good price.
