Everything else was great and very clean, and we'd definitely come back. I took off a star because of the bathroom: it's a plastic cubicle, and the ventilation doesn't stop the moisture from lingering. We ended up drying the towels in the room. Still, it's definitely worth spending a vacation here.

At over €100 a night, I wouldn't expect luxury or a minibar, but I did expect the basics to be in decent shape. Instead, our whole group found the mattress saggy and sloped to one side, the rooms and hallways were noisy enough that someone entering their room woke us, and the Wi-Fi was very slow. There was shabby, worn furniture, visible filler on the walls, and broken light switches. Before we arrived, the correspondence felt unfriendly, with no greeting or salutation. At breakfast, the staff's friendly welcome was, "Room number?!" The owners' replies to reviews say guests shouldn't expect more from budget accommodation for glider pilots, and point to simple furnishings aimed at flight students and people looking for a good price. But our concern was the general condition, not a lack of luxury. Several reviews make the same point. There were good things, too. The location is great, though people accept the price-to-quality ratio because it's the only hotel. The rooms have nice pictures of gliding in the Rhön Mountains, and some rooms have a nice view depending on where they're situated. Breakfast was fair for the price. The water pressure and temperature were good, check-in was uncomplicated, and parking was right at the hotel. The breakfast room and restaurant are attractively decorated with lovely gliding pictures. As a group, we probably won't return under these conditions. How the situation was handled gave me the impression that mistakes are treated as the customer's fault for not complaining on site. I also don't think the hotel should have revealed my last name in its response. It's a shame, because we'd have stayed again if either the conditions or the prices were better. As things stood, it felt unfair to everyone involved.
