Feriendorf Wasserkuppe

We had a pleasant weekend in the deluxe holiday home, though a few things could be improved. Heating the open maisonette was awkward: the upstairs sleeping area got very warm while the downstairs living room stayed cool, especially inconvenient at night. To air out the whole house, including upstairs, we had to use the patio door in the living area. At checkout we were explicitly asked to vacuum, take out the trash, and wash every dish, rather than just load the dishwasher. We knew we'd need to make the beds ourselves, but together these chores affected the value for money at over €200 a night. The house was clean when we arrived, well maintained, and equipped with what we needed, including towels and kitchen utensils. Its wooden furnishings felt cozy and high quality. Reception staff were consistently friendly and helpful. The summit location on Wasserkuppe mountain is stunning. The layout and sleeping arrangements may be an issue for a larger group. The website described 2-3 bedrooms depending on guest numbers, but our house had one large sleeping area with four beds, one double and two singles, open to the upstairs living and kitchen space. There was also a small pull-out two-seater sofa in the living area, but its size and position seemed unsuitable for either adults or children to sleep on. The single beds, one tucked right under the sloping roof, seemed only 70-80 cm wide, and their duvets were smaller than the standard 140x200 cm. That may work for children, but this wasn't clearly explained before booking. The sauna fits no more than three adults. None of this was a problem for our weekend, though it could be for a larger party. We also couldn't use the coffee machine because its filter insert was missing, something housekeeping should have caught in the final check. Overall we enjoyed our stay, with a few minor drawbacks and room to improve.

A charming little house in a great spot, and we were given a very warm welcome. The dishwasher wasn't working, but the staff reacted right away and were extremely helpful. They offered to take the dishes so we could bring them along and have them washed at the hotel.

We've stayed in the holiday village three times now because we really love it. The deluxe houses have always felt like home, whether we're there as a couple or with our three kids and dog. The restaurant is lovely for breakfast or dinner, with a play area and open fireplace. We'll be back for sure. Thank you!

We were hoping to return after a wonderful stay in Chalet 310 in January 2025, but booking again has been frustrating. We saw a deluxe chalet listed for €780 and called to ask whether we could get Chalet 310 at that price. It seems the deluxe chalets fall into two price categories, and Chalet 310 was in the lower one last year. We couldn't reach anyone by phone and asked for a callback. A day later, an employee who sounded very stressed called to say the chalet would cost €1000 for four nights, with no cheaper option available in that period. We said we'd check the website calendar and get back to them. We then found a deluxe cottage for €840 still showing as available, and it remains listed. When we called again, we were told we'd get another callback. Three days later, we're still waiting. We were really looking forward to coming back, so it's disappointing that we can't get this sorted out. There were also problems with an advance booking for 2027, which is really sad and a shame.
