Morada Hotel Heidesee Gifhorn

It feels like a homely place, with a lovely restaurant and sauna, and free parking right in front. The location is secluded, so getting there without a car is practically impossible. Rooms are generally very clean, though a bit outdated, and there are no baths.

It got coldest at night, but that’s when they turned off the heat, which made my stay unpleasant. There’s no staff overnight, so if you need help, for example if you lock yourself out, you have to wait until morning. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

Aside from the rough first night, the stay was okay. Most rooms have one single bed. The hotel is surrounded by trees and fresh air, but it’s in the middle of nowhere, about 60 Kms from the IAA commercial vehicles exhibition grounds, with a fairly limited road to get there. I was the only guest on my first day and noticed staff left at 10 pm. I’d been told to use my room card on the main automatic glass door, but it wouldn’t open. None of the emergency numbers worked either, so I forced the door open and broke some of my nails in the process. Thankfully, my room key did work on my room door, and I was able to get inside.

The breakfast was tasty and had a good range of choices. The hotel was clean and comfortable, in a quiet location.
