Historisches Landhotel Studentenmühle

The restaurant keeps things simple: hearty German dishes, brought out quickly, tasty, fairly inexpensive, and no fuss. The hotel itself is out in nature, quiet, and very clean. Its old-fashioned rooms won't suit everyone, but the fresh smell, spotless bathroom, and bright white sheets make the basics feel well cared for. A straightforward place to stay or eat without spending much or giving up the essentials.

We only stayed one night before heading to Austria, and leaving the next day felt too soon. The setting is lovely for unwinding, with beautiful nature and really friendly staff. We'd have liked to stay longer, and we'll definitely return.

Being out among the wildlife, horses, ponies, and donkeys gives this place a lovely middle-of-nowhere feel. I love the traditional German food and the homey feeling of being around the people who cook and serve it. I don't know whether they speak English, though I imagine the younger staff could manage. People I know who've stayed at the hotel liked it. If you're after a relaxed visit, with or without an overnight stay, and don't expect chain-hotel service, this is the spot :)

The food tasted awful and was much too salty. Our dinner drink didn't show up until we'd finished eating. Even on a quiet night, with only a few tables occupied, we waited 20 minutes for someone to take our drink order and another 20 for the drinks to arrive. The quality was terrible and it felt like they didn't care. I'd go somewhere else.
