SCHLOSS Fleesensee

We stayed four nights to play golf, but the courses were in terrible shape. Work had been done on the schloss course, and we weren't told before arriving or offered any compensation. After our final round, we planned to shower quickly in the spa before leaving. At 12:30 we were told we were 30 minutes too late and would have to pay the full day admission. That felt ridiculously stingy and like a strange way to treat customers.

The spa was probably the highlight: I think there were at least four saunas, lots of loungers, an infinity pool, drink service, and afternoon sun over the water. There's also a huge garden to walk around, and the underground garage has chargers for electric cars. We had a great weekend with friends. Our room was very large, with a nice couch, a comfortable bed, and a separate bathtub and shower. The bathroom was a little older but still nice.

The region is great for exploring by bike, and the hotel's rather remote setting made for a restorative break. We felt welcomed as guests, not like just a number, with little touches like wine on arrival and chocolate and water when we left. Dinner at the buffet was impressive, with high-quality fish and meat and vegetables from their own garden. One small frustration: the hotel's EV charger isn't HPC and doesn't accept LogPay. We tried the Robinson Club a few minutes away, where LogPay was supposed to work. We were told the hotels cooperate, but Robinson said clearly that charging was only for its hotel guests. They also said there were only three stations, though just looking outside made that number seem unrealistic 😉.

The hotel was generally good, but it felt expensive for the facilities, rooms, and service compared with other places I've stayed. In December 2023, part of the spa was being renovated, including the outdoor saunas and a pool annex, so check on that before planning a visit. The spa has three saunas, a steam room, a salt-air room, and a heated adults' pool, though there was no jacuzzi during our stay. Massages were professional, and there's a partnership with a nearby aqua park for guests with kids. Pets are allowed, so you may hear dogs barking. The lobby and restaurant are kept to a good standard, but long corridors and sparse signs can make it hard to find your way. We booked a package with half board, wine, and treatments. The food was generally good, although a planned three-course dinner may unexpectedly be a buffet, which could be a letdown if you're hoping for a romantic meal.
