Hotel & Restaurant Zur Spreewälderin

We’d accidentally booked the wrong dates for our one-night stay, but the gentleman who answered the door found us a cottage for the night. Breakfast the next morning was tasty, and the service was very welcoming.

We stayed here before visiting Tropical Islands the next day. The site is pretty and well maintained, with accommodation in wooden chalets. Our room had a table and chairs and enough space for three, but there were no tea or coffee facilities. The decor felt dated, though still pretty, and the splattered mosquitoes on the walls put me off. The bedding looked old and a bit grey, and the beds weren’t very comfortable. We had dinner at the lovely restaurant, which was very good and had a varied menu. For over €100, I’m sure you could find nicer accommodation, so I wouldn’t recommend staying here or come back myself.

Sleep was impossible with a group of young people shouting and laughing like they were in some wild comedy.

The room was clean, but there was no hot water. It runs from some kind of tank, and once it’s gone, that’s it. Our room had no hot water from the start, and it was freezing before we’d even used any. They told me to wait 10 minutes, but after 30 there was still nothing. They moved us to another room, but this was really frustrating at 10 at night with a 4yo and a 6 month old.
