Lovely, comfortable place, wonderful kitchen, and great staff!

We only stopped for a drink after arriving by mountain bike, but the welcome was so warm. The outdoor area was already full, yet the owner found us a little bench and put a table beside it. The couple running the inn were genuinely friendly, and the dishes we saw looked delicious, though we didn't eat. It's a cozy spot with a comfortable outdoor seating area, well worth stopping at. Five stars hardly seem enough for that hospitality!

After a long time away, I went to Lauterer Wirtshaus with ten friends for duck. The food quality and service both impressed us. A top place in Suhl, and one I'd happily recommend.

The quiet in the surrounding mountains was fantastic, and the beds were so comfortable that getting up became harder each day. Our room was cozy, clean, and full of Thuringian charm, with a spotless bathroom too. Mrs. Wangemann welcomed us warmly and made us feel at home. We'll certainly return, dear Mrs. Wangemann.

This is Suhl's oldest inn, and it's still family-run and friendly, with fantastic food. The well-known dishes include rabbit, duck, roulades, sauerbraten, and Thuringian dumplings. Ordering ahead is no problem, and they make sure nothing gets wasted. That's sustainability done right. 👍
