Hotel Garni Arcis

At €70-90 a night, this felt far too expensive. I paid extra for breakfast and regretted it: the boiled egg was undercooked, and I missed a lot of other things I expected. The hotel room looked clean after its renovation, but moving one chair exposed a lot of dog hair. There was no air conditioning, so the room got really warm. If boiling an egg is already a challenge, maybe take the Michelin sticker off the front door.

The internet was dreadful, and I wouldn't recommend staying here. The shower was tiny, with the faucet at elbow height, so I kept hitting it and changing the temperature whenever I turned around. The bed was the worst I've ever had. It didn't even feel like it had a mattress, more like thick foam, and the pillow was a thin square cushion. I'm 1.94 m tall and needed a 2 m duvet, but this one was only about 1.80 m. I called reception six times and got no answer.

Breakfast was very good, and the hotel also has a bar and a breakfast room open from 06:00 to 10:30. There's a restaurant across the street, too. My room was clean and spacious enough, the bed was okay, and the bathroom was clean with a hair dryer. The shower cubicle was a little small. Check-in was late, at 19:00, but that was no problem. There was free parking close to the hotel.

Bars and restaurants are right across the road if you need them, and the staff were helpful. The hotel was super clean and modern, with free parking. I'd come back.
