Waldhaus Eifel

I haven't stayed at the hotel, so I'm only rating the restaurant. My family and I usually eat here after visiting the adjacent Eifelpark. The food is good for reasonable prices, and the staff have always been friendly and welcoming.

We were in the area to visit friends. The place is a little out of the way, so I imagine many people come because of the nearby air base or the amusement park. It was clean and comfortable, and the staff were excellent. Nothing fancy, but it has everything you need.

The hotel is dated, but clean and tidy. The rooms need updating, though they still do the job. For dinner I had wild boar and deer. The steaks were oddly served on toast, which was what caught my interest, and I enjoyed the meal with a Bitburger beer. It wasn't ridiculously priced. I hadn't known the hotel was part of a theme park with rides and animals. Work had arranged the stay, so that was a surprise, though it explained the unusual signs and animal statues around the place. The nearby towns, Gondorf and Dudeldorf, don't offer much, but if you walk around, you're sure to find a small shop.

A local recommended this hotel and restaurant to us. The food was delicious, and the staff were really nice. There's a fun little amusement park next door, too. I was told the owner hunts on the grounds, so you can occasionally get a meal made from his catch.
