Pension Destille

A good choice if you want somewhere a little unusual, right in the old town center. It has underground parking off the road, which is a nice bonus. The rooms are clean and reasonably basic, though tea and coffee facilities would be useful. Breakfast is mostly continental, with a good range of meats and cheeses. Our window faced a road undergoing a major gas pipe replacement, but the double glazing blocked most of the noise.

The views of the town and sunset from our windows were spectacular, and the location is excellent. The staff made us feel welcome when we arrived. Our family room was very spacious and clean, with a double vanity in the bathroom and incredibly comfortable beds. Key card access meant we could come and go at any hour, and there’s a delicious restaurant on site.

Let the hotel know when you’ll arrive, since reception closes if you get there too late. That’s odd for a 4 stars hotel, with no reception 27/7. Breakfast starts at 7h30, so it won’t work if your meeting is at 8h00. Also odd for a 4 stars hotel. The room was okay, but the overhead shower barely gave more than a few drops, making it unusable. Saving water is nice, but they’ve taken it too far.

The rooms were very clean, and the modern bathroom was a real plus. The setup itself is rather basic, but the kind, helpful staff and the hotel's spot in the center of this small border town made for a nice stay.
