Pension zur Wartburg

A quiet, tidy place where I enjoyed my stay. The historic center is a five-minute walk, and the main train station is 17 minutes away on foot. Customer service was great.

The spot itself felt like something out of a Brothers Grimm tale. Pension Wartburg (Passion Wartburg Johannes-Wüsten-Straße 21, 02628 Görlitz, Germany) is near the Polish border, almost on the Neisse River embankment, on a quiet one-way street with beautiful views. The houses going down toward the river look magical. Churches, Market Square, museums, town halls, and towers are all within a 15-minute walk. I’m sure the building is over 100 years old, though I can't verify that. Its doors, wooden railings, and window openings certainly look very old. Our double room looked onto a shared kitchen that was rarely used, so it felt almost like having a kitchen in the room. It had an electric kettle, microwave, sink, refrigerator, lovely clay dishes, and everything else needed. Our room was small and furnished like a modest Soviet boarding house, but had what we needed. We especially liked the outlets by the bed and the good mattresses. The bathroom was clean and fresh, recently renovated, and had a hairdryer. The hosts were unobtrusive and hardly around. They spoke German, and the host knew just a little English. He kindly offered us groceries for free, including fresh, tasty buns. I highly recommend staying here!

The place is quiet, with parking available, and has everything you need on site. The accommodation was clean and breakfast was good and sufficient. Staff were very friendly, helpful, and chatty. The only small drawback was having nowhere to hang a wet jacket. We'd happily stay again.

I was traveling alone as a pilgrim and stayed for one night in June 2020. The owner was incredibly attentive, and reception and service were very friendly. The location, cleanliness, and value for money were all very good. Wi-Fi, parking, and a kitchen are available. Highly recommended.
