Hotel Der Achtermann

Our group of ten motorcyclists stayed for seven days. The receptionist was rude and unhelpful, and seemed to make things difficult whenever she could. Our rooms were serviced only once during the whole stay, and our towels were replaced just once as well.

The location was really convenient, and breakfast was wonderful. Our room was clean, though a little dated, and the staff were easy to approach and helpful. Thanks for having us, we had a very pleasant stay.

Breakfast was very good, and the staff were genuinely friendly. I also liked the old section's charm. But I was disappointed by how the room changes worked out. On my first night I was in spacious room 232, which seemed great until I got into bed and realized it was beside the railway. Passing trains made things in the room vibrate. I called reception at 1AM and asked to move to the quietest room. That room was silent, but had no air conditioning and felt like an oven at night. I paid an extra 40 euro per night for a very quiet but unbearably hot bedroom, and didn't get a full night's sleep. I wouldn't recommend staying here in summer, especially in very hot weather.

The breakfast restaurant was a highlight, with plenty of fresh bread, croissants, juice, eggs and bacon, cheese, sausage, and more. The coffee was served in a thermos on the table rather than coming from a machine, which deserves special praise. Dinner was only okay, though fair for the price. I was on a group trip with SKAN travel. The hotel is central, within walking distance of most places in town. Staff were helpful and friendly, and my room was fairly small but pleasant and clean. I did miss having an electric kettle for instant coffee. I'd recommend the hotel and would be glad to return.
