It's a quiet, cozy spot in a typical German town, with pretty houses and attentive neighbors. The place has hostel-like conditions, though: sound carries from the third floor all the way down to the first. During the day, the cleaner turns off the radiator and opens the window. When you come back in the evening, the room feels like a refrigerator.

I liked the big kitchen and the shared room on the top floor, and there was Wi-Fi and street parking. Lidl is also an easy walk away, since breakfast isn't provided. Still, the stay wasn't great value for the price, and I found the accommodation too expensive. We went from the guesthouse by the lake to Goslarer Straße, the B 241, where our street-facing room opened onto busy city life instead of the quiet we'd hoped for. The bedrooms are cramped, and the TV looks like it belongs in a museum. What bothered me most was having to share a shower and toilet with eight strangers. We also had to bring our own towel, which wasn't clear in the Booking.com booking form. This hostel doesn't suit groups of construction workers or very large families.

It's simply cold, as the owner seems to be saving on heating. The rooms are separate, but the kitchen and bathroom are shared, so it feels more like an apartment.
