Hotel Goldene Krone

A short five-minute walk gets you to the Christmas markets and town square. My single room was cozy and comfortable, with a great bed and pillows, plus a couch I really liked. Single rooms can feel like prison cells sometimes, but this one didn't. There were lots of thoughtful touches: a warm throw, a kettle with tea and coffee, and a window looking onto the street. The shower had endless hot water, and breakfast was lovely. The coffee machine made delicious coffee too. The receptionist spoke English, thankfully, and the woman at breakfast used her phone to translate when I ordered eggs. I was an annoying tourist who couldn't speak the language, and they were both very kind. One heads-up if you book through a third-party site that rhymes with encyclopedia: it may not send you the hotel's check-in instructions, and you could end up outside unsure how to get in. We sorted it out in ten minutes, and it wasn't the hotel's fault. If you don't hear from them, it's probably best to email directly for instructions. I'd definitely stay here again.
