Hotel Caf Steffens

The soup was perfect, and the food was amazing. We had dinner here last week, my husband and I. It took a while for them to take our order and bring it, but the wait turned out to be worth it. I’m not usually a fan of the place, yet we left wanting to come back and eat there again. The person who took and brought our order was friendly too. 😊

The meal was small for the price, and I was still hungry when we left. After ordering, we waited 45 minutes for food that was nothing special. Before that, it took 15 minutes just to get our order taken, even though the staff had noticed us waiting. The place was half empty, so I wouldn't have minded the wait if it had been full. Another guest nearby waited 40 minutes too and was clearly unhappy. The employees didn't smile, and when we'd paid, one rushed over to clear the table with a sour face. No smile or even a “have a nice evening,” though at least the clearing was quick 😅. I'd seen the restaurant had four stars and took that as a good sign, but after this visit I can only give it one at most. I’m usually a positive person, but this left me in a bad mood. I don't recommend it.

We had our three-year-old with us, and the wait staff were quick and really friendly, even bringing a child-friendly option and making adjustments for us. They seated us promptly, came back soon to take the order, and kept checking on us. We notice that kind of care and tip well for it. The food was fantastic, with plenty of hearty traditional German dishes. I had fish with Riesling sauce and it was amazing. When we visit for skiing again, we’ll definitely eat here several times. You need a lot of patience here. It took more than 50 minutes to get seated and then get the food. The staff rarely looked up, so it was almost impossible to get their attention. Even when we managed to, they'd go on to other things anyway.
