There’s some traffic outside, though it didn’t bother us, and shops are just around the corner. The guesthouse is also close to the train station. It feels very family-friendly, the rooms are clean, and they’re happy to accommodate individual requests, especially at breakfast. The rooms aren’t especially modern, but that didn’t matter to us since we were mainly there to sleep.

The owner was very friendly and gave us great answers to all our questions about Gotha. Breakfast was nicely laid out, with plenty of cheese, cold cuts, and sweet jams. We felt at home right away in our spacious, clean room. It was quiet too, with no noise from the street or other guests, and the beds were comfortable. Sights, the large park, and public transport are all close by. We’ll definitely return. Highly recommended!

Everything else was a pleasure, though I have to take a star off for the heavy traffic outside. The rooms were very clean, tidied every day, and the trash was emptied. They also refilled a small bottle of water. Breakfast was served to suit our wishes and usual routine, and the hostess was super friendly. The old town restaurants weren’t quite to our taste, though that’s personal. The ducal park, the castle and its orangery, and the old town are all walkable. The Thuringian Forest Railway leaves from the station, just five minutes away, so there are plenty of ways to plan outings.

It was impossible to get any quiet in the room, right by a busy street, and everything felt impersonal. The cleaning wasn’t done properly and the service was minimal. Such a shame, but I wouldn’t stay here again.
