Eibsee

The location makes it easy to enjoy Lake Eibsee and the Zugspitze, whether walking around the lake or taking the cable car up to the summit. The surroundings are beautiful, and the hotel has direct access to a private beach with kayaks and paddle boards for exploring the water. It was a magical, refreshing experience. I loved waking up to the view from my terrace, with both the lake and mountains in sight. The restaurant's huge panoramic windows were another highlight, especially at breakfast. The room was comfortable, and half-board was included in a good-value stay. Meals were varied, delicious, and lived up to expectations. There's also a spa, though I didn't get to try it. A lovely hotel for relaxing and exploring this special area.

Bence at the bar was a big part of why we came back every night. He made stunning cocktails, was friendly and great with guests, and even showed my teenage son how to make mocktails. My son felt very welcome and loved it. The buffet food was luxurious, and we enjoyed the menus every day. We spent a week at Eibsee hotel on a big family holiday and had an amazing time. There's so much to do: cycling, hiking, and jogging around the lake, plus swimming, paddle boarding, pedalos, and canoeing. My husband and his brother also tried some local Vai Ferratas. The cable car station is right next to the hotel and runs all year. We were there in summer, so there was no snow, but skiing is possible in winter. The luxury spa has a gym, swimming pool, sauna, steam room, and a lounge for guests who want a quiet place to unwind, with a lovely mountain and lake view. We all had a wonderful holiday, and I'd strongly recommend Eibsee hotel.

We return every year, and the setting by the lake and mountain is perfect. Having paddle boards and small boats available from the hotel makes a real difference. The spa is incredible, and the food is fantastic. Most of all, we appreciate the staff. They bring everything together and make the experience. Thanks so much!

A big issue showed up at bedtime: the room advertised with a double bed actually had two single beds pushed together, and they slid apart right away. That isn't acceptable at this hotel level, so I'd give the room only two stars. Still, we loved the excellent cocktail bar. Bence mixed drinks incredibly well, chatted with guests, and took great care of us. Damir, the Bosnian guy at reception, was also incredibly friendly and handled everything for us. The hotel was a stop on our family trip to Bavaria. The last two kilometers took 50 minutes by car because of a huge traffic jam on the road, which apparently happens regularly in the area. The hotel's location is wonderful, easily in my top three of the many places I've seen. The afternoon snack was creative and enjoyable, and we headed to the beach afterward. It's beautifully designed, with kayaks, canoes, SUPs, and water bikes free to use. The water was pleasantly warm, around 24-24 degrees, and visibly crystal clear. The equipment can be used across the whole lake, which is also owned by the hotel. It's a lovely summer activity if you want to fully relax. We had a boat trip planned for the afternoon, but all the places were already taken. The staff arranged another trip so we wouldn't miss out. That's six-star service! Dinner was buffet style, with drinks the only extra charge. The menu was varied and delicious, and the service staff were friendly and intelligent, in keeping with the place. After dinner, we hired bicycles and rode around the lake at sunset. With the Zugspitze behind us, it was a miracle! Breakfast was perfect too, with plenty of choices, eggs cooked to order, and ingredients of the highest quality. When we checked out, they gave us bottled water for the road, a nice touch. A great hotel, a superb location and surroundings, and very friendly staff with fine services. But that double bed really needs to be a double bed.
