The surroundings are stunning, with Meseberg Palace and Lake Huwenow among them. This is a modern Brandenburg country hotel with real character, excellent rooms and suites, a great Spa, lovely food and wonderful staff.

Meseberg Palace is known for hosting various events involving the German government, the EU, the German chancellor and the current leading parties. The village is quite a way from Berlin, at least an hour by car, and then you're pretty much in the middle of nowhere. Still, the little lake and the pretty neo-baroque palace make for a nice setting, typical of this part of Germany. The nearby hotel is lovely too, with rooms in a good classical style. They're spacious enough and each has direct access to the park. It could work well as a one-night stop on a long trip to the beach. The cooking is regular German cuisine with a little experimental touch, and the beer really is very good. It's worth visiting, though I'd keep it to a night or two because there's not much to do there. The exception is when the police cause delays because VIPs are arriving.
