I’ve never had worse service. The price they gave me after I arrived was completely different from the one they had written to me. The hotel manager was the rudest, most impolite woman I’ve ever met. If you stay here, I’d advise paying on arrival, or you can’t be sure what you’ll be charged. We had two identical rooms and asked for the same rate, but one cost €25 more than the other. We only found out in the morning. There are plenty of other hotels in the area, so try somewhere else. This place definitely wasn’t honest.

Our room was spacious and quiet, set back from the main street, and the owner and staff were very friendly. Breakfast was excellent and plentiful. We also rented two electric mountain bikes. They were in great condition, fun to ride, and had plenty of power for climbing out of the river valley.

The apple strudel was fantastic, and the non-alcoholic beer was good too. We had grilled salmon with some vegetables and a potato dish, which was also good. Driving north from Munich at 9 p.m., we thought we should eat before everything closed, and were glad we tried this place. Prices were reasonable, and we had no trouble finding nearby parking at night.

Greding is a peaceful, beautiful village near the highway, making it a much better rest stop than today’s expensive, busy, unattractive service stations. Another perfect break on our way home from holiday. We had a late lunch or early dinner at Hotel am Markt. The food and service were great, and the terrace was a perfect place to enjoy the Greding buildings. The staff were very friendly, and the food and drinks were fairly priced for the quality.
