The room was clean and looked after, and the quality felt excellent for the price. It was a very quiet day, with the car park almost empty, and the hotel seemed closed. The restaurant was closed too. We rang the bell and were welcomed with a big smile. Once we had the keys, we got directions to a Balkan restaurant in the next village. Thanks, we'd come back without hesitation.

The proprietor was friendly and made us feel welcome. Our basic room was clean and comfortable, and there was a huge free car park. The restaurant was closed when we got there on Sunday, but the proprietor happily suggested a local place, and it was delicious.

We keep going back to Auerhahn for dinner. The food is always tasty and unpretentious, and the prices are reasonable. On cold, rainy evenings, the huge wood-fired stove, which seems to take up almost a whole wall, makes the place feel cozy. Service can be really slow, even with just 4-8 customers in the non-smoking section, which seats around 56. The waitstaff seem overwhelmed, so patience helps. That's the only issue we've had, and they're so friendly that we just settle into the peaceful, slower pace.

The distance to Kiel was decent, but the price felt really high because of the Kiel Days Event, at least for what was offered. The floor wasn't clean, the room was outdated, and the bathroom smelled.
