Ferienwohnung Heß

This is the Hess (Thea) guest apartment right next door to the owner's house at Lindenstraße 7. There were lots of flies coming from the horse stable next door. The apartment was extremely dirty: windows, doors, and cupboard surfaces were smeared, and we had to clean the shower ourselves because the water wouldn’t drain. During the pandemic, that felt absolutely unacceptable. The landlords were unhelpful. There were no wardrobes, so we lived out of our suitcases, and no bedside lamps, leaving it pitch black. The blinds were broken and switch covers were missing. The TV didn’t work, there was no radio, and Wi-Fi only worked when nobody else was logged in. The building also blocked mobile reception inside the apartment. If the place were finished, with cupboards, working appliances, and proper cleaning, an overnight stay might be relaxing. As it is, I can’t recommend it. They also seem to be avoiding a longer conversation on this platform, and now we know why. Stay away. Plenty of photos are available on request.

I'm simply speechless. We booked this as a surprise Legoland trip for the kids, but the apartment was unhygienic and we had to find somewhere else to stay that evening. It hadn’t been cleaned before we arrived: surfaces and the dining table were dirty, the floor hadn’t been mopped, the fridge was sticky and dirty, there were urine and bloodstains on the bed and blankets, used dishcloths in the sink, broken glass and rubbish in the garden, full ashtrays, and a cigarette smell inside. The conditions weren’t acceptable for children. No one was available to deal with it, and the necessary work, including cleaning the mattresses, would have taken at least the next few days. When we showed the owner what we’d found, he refused to acknowledge it and gave us no refund. We paid in full and never used the vacation rental service, yet were treated terribly. The landlord then canceled the booking himself, so we couldn’t leave a review on Booking.com. We still haven’t received any cancellation fee or anything else. I documented everything with photos. When I tried to report the landlord and work something out through Booking.com, they started lying and making things up. Booking.com contacted them several times, but the landlord still refused to refund anything and kept inventing more stories. It’s sad that people with no morals can still look so highly rated at first glance. Warning, stay away.

It’s a very nice place, close to a store. I’d recommend staying here rather than in the city, where there are lots of one-way streets. It’s nearby, but you do need a car. The apartment works for two families, and has two bedrooms and a very large bathroom. Just be careful with the shower, it’s broken and water comes out.

The photos pretty much show it all. It looks recently renovated, but the final cleaning seems to have been skipped, and lots of furniture needed to make it a proper apartment is still missing.
