We found this a handy, affordable stopover. Everything we needed was close by, and the facilities were clean and in good shape. There’s also a big fenced dog area with toys. The person we met at the hotel was friendly, though they spoke little English. Google Translate worked fine for us, but basic English would be useful for non-German speakers. Still, it was a good-value place to stay.

There’s no wheelchair access, unfortunately. The staff spoke very little English, but they were really pleasant. A big plus for being pet-friendly, with a fenced dog training area right on site.

The hotel itself was clean and tidy, and the inside was much nicer than the outside, which has an odd mix of camping, a hotel, a steakhouse and a zoo. The staff were nice and the service was great. I also enjoyed the affordable food: my cheeseburger and fries were tasty and a generous portion. The beer was reasonably priced too, and the schnaps came ice cold and tasted good.

We camped in a tent on the hotel grounds and had a great time. The staff were very helpful, especially Ms. Schmidts. The buffet restaurant served a great meal for €20, and breakfast was €7. Highly recommend it.

The Wildpark and Oase swimming pool are both close enough to walk to, and each is great for kids of any age. To visit the town centre, though, you’ll need to drive to see the Barlach ehibition in the Gertrudenstraße and the "Schwebende" in the Güstrow Dom.
