Hotel Mühleneck

The Wi-Fi was fine, and the rooms had a decent amount of equipment. It’s an easygoing place to stay, though you can’t check in until 2:30 PM and the check-in window is limited. Cleanliness wasn’t great. If you’re used to budget accommodation, it may be okay, but I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone particular about things being clean.

The room itself was fairly clean, but the place could use some renovation. The thin walls made it feel as if other guests were walking through my room at night, so it was hard to rest. There was no food in the evening or the next morning, and service was nonexistent. Breakfast was at a nearby bakery, where guests got a 5% discount. I can’t recommend it.

The owner was friendly and easy to reach, and breakfast was very good. My single room was small, but well equipped, even with a little refrigerator. The bed was comfortable and everything was very clean. It did get noisy during the day, though it was quiet at night. I’d gladly stay here again on my way to the North Sea. Thank you.

Sleep was almost impossible because the walls were so thin, and the noise continued until 3 a.m. One bedsheet also had holes. The room itself was small but very clean, and breakfast at a nearby bakery was no problem. The real mess was leaving. The owner knew we had to leave early for our ship, but when we reached the entrance at 7:20 a.m., nobody was there. We loaded our luggage and tried calling, with no answer, then went to breakfast and called again. We caught the owner fast asleep. We sorted out payment terms and left without speaking face to face. Unbelievable. The arrival had already been a strange experience: we booked at the end of August, when the hotel apparently had different owners. The gate was open, but the reception area looked derelict and there was nobody around, even after we called out. We went upstairs to the rooms and still found no one. Only on the way out did we see a sign telling us to call. The first call went unanswered; on the second, we got a code by phone to pick up our key. The owner said he’d taken over the hotel 10 days earlier, so a lot was still unfamiliar to him.
