Hotel Villa Heine

The spa area was lovely, and we enjoyed the pool and all the places to relax, including garden loungers and a tea area with armchairs. We slept comfortably, with nice beds and luxurious towels and gowns, and the shower had great water pressure. The staff were friendly and down to earth, especially the Frühstück lady. Breakfast was sufficient, though we would have liked plant-based alternatives. We had a peaceful, relaxing stay, and the location worked well: trams nearby go to the town centre, and the train station is a very short walk away.

The breakfast was meager, and more than an hour before it ended there were already no juices, the Nutella was gone, and the croissants had run out. For a 4-star superior hotel, I expected fresh food in enough quantity for all the guests. The wellness area was disappointing too. The website and Booking said the pool would be 32 degrees, but the water was barely 25, so we didn't get in. The sauna and steam room area felt neglected, and the drinking water dispenser was empty and wasn't refilled. The room had its own problems: the shower was dirty, the floor wasn't clean, a table lamp didn't work, and the wall-mounted hairdryer took forever to dry my hair. There were no slippers for the wellness area, though other guests had them. We were lucky to have brought some for emergencies. The minibar was EMPTY, without even a bottle of water, and the toilet roll in the bathroom was already less than half full. For a 4-star superior hotel, that's disappointing. Check-in was a mess. The person at reception was rude and surly, and seemed irritated that others were waiting their turn. Earlier, while we were outside, we phoned just to ask when the internal restaurant was open. An attendant said they couldn't give us that information because the staff in charge only arrive at 2.30 pm. At check-in the receptionist couldn't spell my first or last name correctly, so I had to change it myself. Our reservation was missing, and she first told us all the rooms were occupied. Nobody gave us the WiFi password, and we couldn't find it in the room. The room phone couldn't connect to reception, so we had to go back downstairs to ask. The password still didn't work. Calling this a 4-star superior hotel is a pure lie. At most, 2 stars. I felt scammed by the high expectations for a 4-star superior Wellness-Spa Hotel, and the stay was an absolute disappointment. Absolutely not recommended. I find it scandalous that this hotel can have 4-star superior status.

A lovely place for a quiet, relaxing holiday. The pool and sauna were good, and the team was friendly and very helpful 👍.

The hotel's European vintage feel is enchanting, right in the city beside the main station. From here you can take the train to Wernigerode and visit Harz National Park. Brocken, the highest mountain in northern Germany, is also reachable from Wernigerode by steam train. There are great hiking routes throughout the area around Halberstadt. The hotel also has great service, conference rooms, a spa and a swimming pool. A great place to stay if you're planning a holiday in the region!
