Hotel Oymanns

A friendly, family-run hotel.

Couldn’t have been better.

Breakfast was very meager, and I wouldn’t recommend staying here, even for a single night. I paid €95 for a single room after a wedding. There were spiders all over the room, and the carpet was worn and stained. The bathroom had mold everywhere, and there wasn’t even hand soap. The shower gel dispenser was broken and held only water. There was no Wi-Fi in the room either.

We won’t be back. For €135, I expected more than an old, dirty room, and a taxi would have cost much less and made for a nicer night. The wedding at the Spaegelhof was lovely, though 😋 We’re from Lübeck and stayed one night for a wedding. We’d seen €95 for a double room on the first page of the website and thought that seemed fair, especially since breakfast with a few other guests was included. Check-in was friendly and seemed fine at first. Then we found cobwebs, mosquitoes, and other insects in the room. Later that night, there was a big water stain with a little mold on the bathroom ceiling above the toilet. In the morning, breakfast was fine, but my chair was nearly falling apart. At checkout we were told the bill was €135. We were speechless. Looking further down the same website, we found a different list: “Single Room - €72,” “Small Double Room - €95,” and “Large Double Room - €120” on the homepage, but elsewhere it said “Single Room - €95,” “Small Double Room - €120,” and “Large Double Room - €135.” Our room was already small. We’d originally hoped to add a third bed for Grandma and our little daughter, but there was no way it would fit without jumping on the beds. We figured it must be a small room, but apparently “small” and “large” refer only to the bed size. I still wonder how that was meant to work, and why the same website showed different prices. We raised the issue and got a grumpy “We’ll have to change that,” with no goodwill gesture. It was their mistake, but they didn’t acknowledge it. The bride and groom and other guests had expected different prices too.
