ALTAN Hotel

I had booked two nights, but after a very bad experience at arrival, I didn't feel comfortable staying and ended up losing the money. I travel all over the EU, Mexico, and Colombia, staying in hostels and hotels, and this was the worst service I've had. I'm leaving this as a warning. I arrived straight from the airport about 45 minutes before check-in, hoping a room might be ready. It wasn't. The only person at the desk spoke neither German nor English and just shrugged. Using Google Translate, I understood through an app that the manager was on his way back, so I sat in the hallway charging my phone. He arrived when it was only 30 minutes until check-in, huffing and puffing and complaining that I was there early and waiting in the hall. He didn't offer help or really acknowledge me except to show he was annoyed. I also called the number listed on Google Maps, but it was disconnected, which didn't look good. When I eventually asked at the desk if I could cancel and get a refund, another guest mentioned they hadn't been able to reach anyone about extending their stay. The manager was still talking to the other worker and somewhat ignoring me, so I addressed him directly. He refused a refund, and the app I'd booked through wouldn't refund me either.
