Boston Apartments

The breakfast had a nice selection, and the bed in our studio was extremely comfortable. We spent a week in a one-bedroom Boston apartment, essentially a junior one-bedroom. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t great either. I’d call it 2.5, rounded down to 2 because of the rating system. This is a good choice if you want a quiet residential neighborhood. It felt removed from the main attractions, though, and there wasn’t much nearby to give visitors a feel for Hamburg. Holstenstrasse S-Bahn is a few minutes away, with regular trains that reach downtown in about 15 minutes. There’s also an Edeka nearby. The hotel website says it’s “in the heart of Hamburg” and shows canal-area images from near downtown. I found that misleading. Nobody in their right mind would call this the heart of Hamburg. The hotel itself was fine, with a modern, dark, moody interior design that had no real personality. The studios look like the pictures, and the decor was okay but nothing special. I can’t comment directly on the regular rooms since I stayed in a studio. My biggest issue was the kitchenette, which came without utensils, plates, a cooking pan, sink soap, or anything else. I’ve never stayed in a hotel apartment with a kitchenette that supplied none of that. Was I expected to bring it on my trip? I had to buy the basics at Edeka and spend another 50+ euros. Apartment guests also have to pay extra to use the gym or sauna, but the area is so small that it wasn’t worth the price. It wasn’t a bad stay, just disappointing. I visit Hamburg for an extended period every year and like trying different hotels. There’s nothing here that would bring me back, and after this stay I’ll avoid their Berlin location too.
