Bridge Inn Hotel

The room was fairly clean, but it had no hand soap or shampoo, just shower gel, and no hair dryer. For a three-person room there was only one shared power socket by the beds. The shower setup was odd too, with no proper door.

The rooms were cozy and tidy, a good deal for a short stay. At the Holiday Inn check-in desk the service was excellent, even though I was checking into a hotel that cost a couple of tenner notes a night. There was little to distract me and I barely heard any noise. I quite liked the hands-off way things were handled, though I can imagine it being an issue if something went wrong. I did have a small problem with the door, as shown in the picture.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and the breakfast room has a fantastic view. We had trouble opening both the outside door and the garage because our key cards had been programmed incorrectly. The beds are very narrow and short. There’s little room in the shower and even less in the toilet.

This worked as a practical base for a busy Hamburg trip, whether for sightseeing or business, but anyone wanting more space, facilities, or a central location may want somewhere else. The rooms are compact and open plan, with the toilet and shower cubicles on either side of the entrance. The beds were comfortable, towels were supplied, and the free WiFi was fairly reliable. We couldn’t locate the hotel’s free fitness room. The leisure centre in the adjoining Holiday Inn was clearly signposted and costs €7.50 a day. It has a fitness room, a pool and a sauna that opens at 2PM. We didn’t try it, and the pool didn’t look large or busy. We saw no sign of a jacuzzi or hot tub. It’s a reasonable way from the city centre. The nearest SBahn station is about a brisk 15-minute walk. A local bus stops closer, but as a visitor I wouldn’t know which stop to ask for or get off at. Free mobile data would help with the bus and tracking your location.
