Hamburg Marriott Hotel

We had a great stay with no problems and very good service. It's an excellent five-star hotel in a great spot, with a decent bar and entertaining, attentive staff. The breakfast selection was super.

The breakfast was the highlight, with a great buffet, freshly made eggs, loads of bread and biscuits, and fruit. The staff kept everything organized and were attentive throughout. They even have a little market where kids can get their own breakfast. This was a junior suite with a view of Gänsemarkt, and it was spacious, clean, well maintained, and practical. I was upgraded. The hotel feels cozy and warm as soon as you walk in, and the staff were consistently nice, prompt, and attentive. It's a classic, the oldest and first Marriott on German soil, dating to 1988, and still excellent. The location beside Gänsemarkt makes the Hamburg inner city easy to reach. Driving there is easy, and walking from the main train station is possible too. There's a hotel parking garage. Mind the clearance: the sign says 1.8 m maximum, but my 1.832 m car fit easily. Wonderful hotel, keep up the good work!

The room was very clean, and the location was useful. The staff were kind, especially Alexia in the executive lounge, who was very thoughtful. Thanks to everyone, I made a good memory at Marriot.

My mother left the table for literally 25 seconds to help me bring a plate from the buffet, and when we got back, her purse was gone. It held all our trip cash, valuable cards, and many important things. The hotel barely seemed to care, told us to go to the police, and said they couldn't do anything. They didn't even check into it. This so-called “5-star” hotel has no security cameras in the restaurant. During our stay we also saw a mouse in the bar. We'd seen this mouse outside a few times before, but one day it was inside. The staff didn't seem very bothered, though a few other guests were unhappy. That says plenty about the hygiene standards. If you care about your safety, belongings, and basic customer care, don't stay here. There are many other good hotels in Hamburg where you won't lose your things.
