The supermarket and train station are very close, and the wifi worked well. We had an enjoyable stay, with three spacious, well-furnished rooms, a kitchen, a small but well-equipped kitchenette, and a complimentary washing machine for laundry. There were no other guests while we were there, and I never saw the landlord. It would have been five stars if smoking weren’t allowed inside. One morning I woke to a very unpleasant smell of smoke in the corridor.

The landlord’s behavior is the reason I wouldn’t give this airless basement apartment even two stars. After booking with no refunds, I got an email saying I had to call him at the door. I emailed three times to explain I couldn’t call without wifi because my SIM card was dead, and asked for the lock box code. No reply. I called from Hamburg station when I was 20 minutes away, but he refused to give me the code. At the door, I tried to get a local person to call him for me, with no answer. Then he texted, “ok. Call me now,” but still didn’t answer. Another local called, and he gave the door code to a complete stranger. Lock box 4 1978. I eventually got an email from him, and it was just a . DO NOT STAY HERE. Read the other reviews about this landlord’s strange behavior.

The shared bathrooms were clear from the reservation, so that part was fine. What wasn’t was how cold the rooms and hallways felt. The decor is questionable everywhere, and the hotel seems badly managed. Definitely overrated.
4/10
Overrated apartments. The host lectured me about having to pee sitting down. This is a hotel, not his private home.

Such a great stay. I’d love to come back, and I’d definitely recommend it.
