City Hotel Hameln

There was no reception or cleaner, and the Wi-Fi wasn’t secured. We checked out early. The keys for the doors were strange, and the door couldn’t be locked from the inside, so it stayed unlocked at night. This might be a reasonable hotel if someone were employed to look after it.

We only stayed one night, and the room was clean and nicely presented, with a huge bed and plenty of fittings. The bathroom was large, spotless, and had a good hot shower. The pillows, unfortunately, were flat and useless. It’s a very dated hotel and looked a bit odd on arrival, but we found it comfortable enough. The location in central Hamelin is great, with the superb Ambrosia restaurant across the road. Breakfast was included and reasonable, though we’d have rather gone to one of the town’s bakeries or coffee shops. Parking is separate, a little hard to find, and costs just a few euros for the night. We tried to reserve a space ahead, but the hotel hadn’t picked that up. We only got one by luck.

A nice little place, and we were happy with our stay. Breakfast was served at the hotel, even though it’s normally at the bakery nearby.

They’ve done a lovely job renovating this old building. The rooms are nicely furnished, very clean, and well equipped. Breakfast is neatly arranged with a bakery just a two-minute walk away.
