Centrally located 2-room apartment

We couldn't take this trip because of very bad weather, but Airbnb handled the cancellation in a fair, straightforward way, so we still wanted to leave a positive review. We'd booked just three days before traveling and, under the cancellation policy, got 50% back. The refund came through quickly, and the credit showed up on my Visa card shortly afterward. We've used Airbnb regularly for many years and are always happy with it. Compared with traditional hotels, you often get much more for the same price or less, whether that's space, amenities, or atmosphere. When traveling with several people, it can be a much better option than paying for two expensive double rooms. The platform is easy to use, reliable, and has a huge selection of distinctive places around the world. For us, it's easily the best booking site online, and a real insider tip for comfortable, individual travel at a fair price.

At 3:00 PM on check-in day, just an hour before we were due to arrive, they called and said they couldn't give us the apartment we'd booked and paid for because the previous tenants hadn't checked out. They said the refund would arrive within a week and told us to find another hotel and pay the new price ourselves. We ended up turning around and driving 480 km back to Rotterdam. Our weekend plans were ruined, and we'd driven almost 1,000 km for nothing. Who's going to reimburse us for that?
