The room worked well for my two-week stay, from August 14 to August 26, 2025. I had a single suite with a twin bed, desk and standard chair, TV, mini-fridge, safe, private bathroom with toilet, shower and sink, a small storage cabinet, and a bench for putting on shoes. The desk had a built-in reading light. There were about eight European-style outlets. The shower got hot and had good pressure, the toilet worked fine, and I liked having soap and sanitizer dispensers in the bathroom. The window opened to let cool air in at night. The fridge was tiny, around 12 inches deep and 24 inches high. I managed to fit a water bottle, two cans of sparkling water, bread, a small pack of lunch meat, cheese, and a stick of butter, but that filled it right up. EDEKA was about a three-minute walk away, so I shopped there often and used the mini-fridge. I'm 18 and American, and this was my first trip outside the US on my own. I wasn't sure what to expect or how well I'd be able to communicate, given that I only know a few German phrases. Christian, who'd been emailing with me about my booking, greeted me when I arrived. He spoke fluent English and explained the entry codes. The hotel emailed me a long code for the outside door and my room, plus a four-digit comfort code. You use the long code outside once and when first entering your room. I had a few hiccups getting into the building, probably because I entered the code wrong, but after a couple of weeks it felt automatic. I booked in July and emailed from the United States before leaving to make sure my reservation was set. They confirmed it. I'd entered my card details to prepay when booking, but a few days before the trip I got another email asking me to read some disclaimers and complete the advance purchase. I arrived at 11 a.m. while the office was open, so I could talk to the front desk. I'd recommend other travelers do that too, as it made things easier. Staff are in the office on weekdays until 3 p.m. On weekends the lobby is closed and locked, so the side door is the only way in. That wasn't a big problem, though I was a bit disappointed that the coffee and espresso machine wasn't available on weekends. There's no breakfast, which is clearly stated online, so I don't count that as a complaint. Just something to know. I'd give the hotel five stars. My one small gripe is that I wish the lobby staff were available for longer, but their hours and the other details were all clearly laid out online. I felt well looked after and got good service. I enjoyed my stay and would recommend it.

I couldn't even get inside to try the rooms at Thüringer Hof Hannover, which was especially disappointing because the building looks recently renovated and the rooms in the photos seem to have a nice feel. I've had one of my worst hotel experiences in Germany here. I booked online intending to pay when I arrived, but there was no staffed reception, even during normal working hours. From the noisy street I had to use the intercom and speak German to learn that I needed to prepay through the straiv app using a link sent by email. The process asked for my contact details and a photo of my passport along with its data. Even then I couldn't complete the payment on my phone because the browser transaction page just hung. Calling this service “Reception” is misleading. People travel for all kinds of reasons and have different levels of comfort with technology. They should clearly warn guests on their website and booking platforms that online check-in is required. As things stand, it feels like a Chinese hostel requiring WeChat to pay and stay.

We stopped here for one night on the way to Berlin. The location was great, close to the station and the shopping and restaurant area, and the staff were helpful and friendly. Our room was clean, roomy, and had plenty of storage, with a very comfortable bed. The reception is modern and funky, but the room decor feels quite dated and doesn't match downstairs. Nothing was actually wrong with the room, though. We skipped the hotel breakfast because we didn't want much to eat and found better value on the high street.

For the price, this hotel is good value and perfectly suitable. It's fairly close to the center and public transport. The staff were helpful and friendly, and accommodating about both our very early check-in and our other guests' very late arrival. My room was clean and airy, with bunk beds and a fairly firm mattress. At this price, I wouldn't expect anything else.

There's no food service, but the hotel is right in the center of Hannover, surrounded by malls and cafés, including seven Sundays.
