Mercure Hotel Hannover City

The room was fine, though check-in took a long time. We paid extra for our dogs and still weren't given a dog bowl. I backed into a parking space using the rear camera, but neither the camera nor the radar picked up the sloping ceiling. I didn't spot it either and hit it. There were marks on the wall already, so clearly I wasn't the first. A warning triangle would help drivers using a reversing camera. The warnings were high up and only visible if you looked with the naked eye while parking front-first.

I've stayed at the Mercure Hannover three times now. The guest rooms are well equipped, and the staff are friendly. I skipped the restaurant this time, though I remember the food being good on earlier visits.

The staff were friendly, particularly at breakfast. The room, though, was clean but tiny, with no minibar and very poor lighting. There's no main ceiling light, and the wall switches don't seem to work. There's no door hanger to request cleaning, just a do-not-disturb sign. Also, if you're used to getting sparkling water, you won't find it here. There's filtered still water on the third floor, but you first have to get a bottle from reception, either with a deposit or by buying one. That's a bit of a hassle.

The hotel was clean and nice, and it wasn't a long walk to the city center. I hadn't realized construction was underway, so the view from our window was scaffolding. The garage is small, and you may have to use a public one farther down the road.
