Hotel Kronenschlösschen

The restaurant food was amazing, and the location made a great base for exploring the Rheingau. We spent one night here in May 2025 and found the hotel very charming. Our suite was on the third floor, with a sitting area and a marble bathroom. There’s no elevator, but a lovely young man carried our bags up for us. We also appreciated the little touches, including fruit and sherry in the room. There’s no air conditioning; we didn’t need it during our stay.

The price made this stay especially disappointing. The room was entirely red, and the fan was incredibly loud. The fixtures looked nice, and breakfast was good, but not worth what it cost. The non-kitchen staff were generally unfriendly, too. After an incredible hotel in Bayern, this place felt even rougher. I expected much more. For what we paid, I’d have been better off staying almost anywhere else, or going 20 minutes to Wiesbaden or somewhere else.

The service was excellent, and the wine bar and cafe across the road, overlooking the Rhine, would make this a very good hotel on their own. Eltville is only 4KM away and pleasant to wander around, since there isn’t much in the village itself. We stayed one night to visit the Rhine. The hotel has charm, with modern but small rooms. Our guesthouse room had a fan for summer heat. It was a bit cramped, but the bed was fine, and the updated bathroom was clean, with a rain-style shower.

The Bistro restaurant at the hotel is especially worth trying. Breakfast was good, and every morning the staff brought water and snacks for my dog. I enjoyed my stay. We were greeted very pleasantly by a young man at reception, who offered right away to help with our luggage. The Guesthouse rooms have air conditioning, while rooms in the main building don’t.
