We arrived back after dinner, not particularly late, and found the place completely dark. Getting in through a basement door with no lights and then walking up to the accommodation floor felt spooky. The hotel itself was silent, though the car park was full. The room key looked so basic that I worried one key might open every door, so I wedged a chair against ours. This was a strange hotel in the middle of the woods. I only ended up there because the Düsseldorf area was booked up. There was odd erotic artwork on the walls, and the book by the bed was a love and sex guide, definitely not a Bible. I still don't know what was going on. It made a good story to tell at work.

At first, arriving here made us think the hotel was in the middle of nowhere. That feeling changed quickly because the owners were incredibly welcoming. She’s Italian and cooks so, so deliciously, while he runs the restaurant. He also paints, and his paintings are displayed around the hotel. We’ll be back! 😀
