The schnitzel was one of the best I’ve had on this trip. We stopped for a late lunch after visiting Burg Eltz, and found a lovely, fairly quiet spot. The service was very nice and prompt by German standards. There were quite a few cyclists around, so it seems popular with them.

The sunset over the Mosel River and the nearby hills made for a beautiful view, and the setting was lively. The food was delicious too. It is on the expensive side, though, roughly 30-50% more than you’d usually pay for similar food in city restaurants.

Right by the Mosselle in Hatzenport, it’s a nice place to stop. We tried the Turkish chicken stew even though we weren’t very hungry, and it filled us up comfortably. The chicken had a good chew, the broth was delicious but mild, and the cheese was great. The staff were friendly too.

The food was good, but the service was terrible. The English people behind us were struggling to find the German words and politely asked to order in English. The staff barked “NUR DEUTSCH” at them three times in a row. Someone in our group has severe allergies, and there was no compassion. Two of us had already ordered when we asked if that person could eat their own food. The waitress got absurdly angry just hearing “own food”; after that, we couldn’t finish a sentence without being barked at and pressured. No patience, understanding, decency, or respect.

A nice spot for a koffie, and you can pee in the garden too. A real bikers cafe. Hihihi
