Landhotel Rügen

Breakfast was excellent, with lots to choose from, and the rooms were clean. Dinner, though, was a tasteless disaster. Every evening that week brought another pork dish, either much too salty or with no seasoning at all. The friendly service couldn't make up for it. It's a shame for the hotel's reputation. The hotel itself is in a quiet, almost deserted spot, with the railway signal as the noise you hear most often. The rooms could also use renovation.

The staff were very friendly, but none of them spoke German. I was there for five nights with Polster and Pohl, and left completely disappointed. Our rooms were never cleaned, and dinner was all ready-made food. We even found packaging in the trash. Breakfast was nowhere near as plentiful as promised, with hardly anything to choose from. The water in the dispenser just sat there, which was disgusting. Worst of all was the tasteless coffee, which left some kind of sludge behind.

The staff were fantastic, attentive, friendly, and courteous, and we were very glad to stay at this country hotel. We booked a Polster & Pohl bus trip, island hopping on the Baltic Sea, for May 5th to 10th, 2024. I’d read some hotel reviews beforehand and wondered if we’d enjoy it, but you need to see it for yourself instead of taking every traveler’s personal perspective as fact. The rooms were decently clean and room service attended to them during the day. Breakfast was simple but perfectly acceptable, and dinner was varied and good every day. The chef, who is also the owner, knows his way around the kitchen. His food was tasty and nicely presented. We don’t understand all the negative reviews. It’s fine if some people don’t consider the hotel exceptional, but I’d call this country hotel good average, with excellent staff. Thanks again to everyone there.

The Baltic Sea is beautiful, but that didn’t make up for a disappointing stay, especially for my mother and her friend, who are older and don’t have the means to find other accommodation. They’re there now with Polster Pohl Reisen. The tour guide and bus driver are very nice, but the accommodation is remote, with no shops nearby, and feels cold and impersonal. Their rooms hadn’t been cleaned, and leftovers from previous guests were still there. The food is the worst part. There’s no fruit or vegetables at all, nothing green at breakfast or dinner. Hot food is nonexistent, and the meals are lukewarm, bland and like reheated hospital food. We contacted the owner directly, but nothing could be done. The tour operator only suggested submitting a written complaint, and the employee wouldn’t take it down, saying we’d have to write it ourselves. If there are food intolerances, we have to be proactive ourselves. We won’t book a bus tour like this again. All in all, very disappointed.
