Hotel Marktterrassen

We used the hotel for one night in transit. The self check-in worked fine, and we didn’t see anyone until morning. The setup is odd, with the hotel on the second floor of a regular building, but it was cozy and the rooms were fine. My boys especially liked the record player in one of our rooms, and the beds were comfortable. The rooms got very hot because there’s no air conditioning. We kept the windows open all night, but on Saturday the revving engines and street noise kept us awake. In one room the bathroom’s sliding door wouldn’t open or close. Breakfast starts at 8 on Sundays, too late for us, so we went to the bakery across the street, where breakfast was really good. When we reported the broken door at checkout, the only employee we saw just said, “OK, I’ll write it down,” without apologizing.

The staff, Sara and Daniel, were so kind. We came from the US to visit friends in Hennef and found the hotel excellent, very clean, with really nice rooms. We’ll definitely stay here every time we come back to Hennef, Germany.

The furnishings are nice and breakfast is full. It’s a very nice place to sleep, not far from Bonn. There’s no receptionist at night, so you have to check in yourself. They don’t speak English, but that wasn’t so important.

It’s a great place to stay, with a nice walk-in shower, a big bed, and Netflix on the TV. The only downside is finding it: you need to enter a building and go up to the second floor. When I arrived, I had to ask people on the street, and nobody knew there was a hotel there.
