Strandresidenz Else Marie - Apartment 1.4

We got a very warm welcome from the Team Brise Usedom at FW 3.2. The apartment on the 3rd floor had a sea view, and everything inside was spotlessly clean and tastefully furnished. The kitchen was lovely, with enough dishes, and there was an incredible amount of storage, especially in the very nice bathroom. The bathroom was lovely, with a very large, step-free walk-in shower. The house itself carries sound easily, and the hallways weren't cleaned during our 14-day stay. Getting the bikes in and out was a bit awkward. We had to take them out and then push them upstairs, and the very heavy doors made coming and going difficult. Those are small issues, though. The location is top-notch, especially because it's a little outside the center, and the walk in takes only 10-15 minutes.

This rating is for apartment 1.4. It's an ideal size for two, with a comfortable bed, plenty of storage, and a tastefully decorated turquoise interior. From the balcony, you can catch a partial sea view through the trees. It's close to the beach, but quite far from the center, and the first restaurant is about a 10-minute walk away. Basic supplies were almost entirely missing. Coffee filters and dishwasher tablets were rationed exactly day by day, yet there was no coffee on arrival, salt, pepper, cling film, or other basics. We weren't expecting a full spice rack, but a few essentials would help. Maybe this was just during our stay, but on several days there was a foul fecal smell from the bathroom. At night we also had to watch out for silverfish underfoot. The kitchen sink wouldn't hold water, so we had to use the large dishwasher, which wasn't very eco-friendly. There was a broom, but otherwise only a vacuum, and it would have been useful to sweep up the sand, especially so close to the beach. That equipment wasn't available either. Apart from a small bottle of dish soap, there were no other cleaning supplies.

Everything we needed was in the holiday apartment, and the location was great.

We spent 11 nights in apartment 1.6 and were very satisfied overall. One thing to know for luggage deliveries or pickups: the entrance is on Heimstraße, not Dünenstraße. There were lots of mosquitoes around, probably because of the nearby forest. The bed in the "bedroom" made an annoying noise whenever we moved, and we mentioned that when we left.
