The room was clean, the shower was okay, and the overall quality was fine for one night. The sink drain was blocked, though, and the stopper couldn’t be removed, so we had to brush our teeth and wash our hands in the shower. The food wasn’t anything special, but the woman who answered the phone was so welcoming that we chose this place over other options nearby. We called in the evening to check availability and make sure they accepted dogs; she even asked the chef to stay later for us. The trouble came at breakfast. The woman who seemed to be the manager at reception greeted me with, “Have you been told that breakfast is until 10am?” It was 9:45, so I thought I had plenty of time for a bite and coffee. That comment felt so unwelcoming that I just wanted to leave. It’s amazing how someone’s attitude can make or break a place.

I was there over Christmas 2012 and had a wonderful stay at Cafe am Stift. The accommodation was comfortable, clean, and modern, and the place was very friendly, with nothing too much trouble. I would have liked Wi-Fi, and that’s the only reason I marked down the service. I’ll certainly stay again when I’m in the area.

Breakfast was very good, and the rooms were clean and nice, even if a bit old fashioned. It’s a quiet spot in nature, and I’d visit again.

The location is nice and the staff are friendly, and breakfast was good too. Unfortunately, the room was somewhat noisy.

I’ve been coming here every year since ’92. It’s an excellent place, with good food and nice people.
