Landhaus Will

The bathroom made showering awkward: its two hinged glass panels don't close properly, so nearly the whole floor gets wet. My brother-in-law mentioned the problem politely, but the landlady replied, "Then you're showering wrong; it hasn't been a problem for the last 20 years." Another guest said there was no hot water one morning, and was told that "a cold shower won't hurt." The place is quite dated. Furniture doesn't match and some of it is damaged, the sofa looks old, a rolling cabinet is fixed to the wall with its wheels still on, and the kitchen cabinets are crooked with worn edges. Supplies were sparse too, with only two toilet rolls and no dishwasher tablets. There was no welcome note or personal touch. We also ran into extra charges and a price discrepancy. The listing showed €79 per night, but we were charged €84 after being told the price had gone up, even though the listing still showed the old rate. Cash was the only payment option. Both cars were charged for parking, and even things like firewood or leaving the dishwasher unemptied seem to cost extra. Our arrival felt unpleasant from the start. Some of our family were already there, but instead of a welcome the landlady hurried around, loudly telling my brother-in-law he'd left a window open, though the heating had already been turned off. When we mentioned our dog, she only asked, "Is he registered?" We would have appreciated a friendly greeting, and since it was Easter, even a small gesture for our child. There wasn't one. Overall, the treatment of guests and the pricing made this an unwelcoming stay. I can't recommend it.

We stayed because our friends and their kids were excited to see us, though the apartment was cold with the radiators off. We hadn't booked through Booking.com after the owner told our friends, who arrived Saturday, that she'd heat the apartment next door if we booked directly. When we arrived Sunday morning, she quoted €122 for two people with breakfast, compared with €79 on Booking.com. Firewood was €5 instead of the €4 on the price list, and the sauna was €15 rather than the listed €12. She said energy was more expensive 😅. We weren't given a receipt, and the charges were higher than the price list. I paid €122, then spoke with my wife ten minutes later. Since we had to leave at 8 a.m., she suggested we skip breakfast. When I went back to tell the landlady, she got really angry and returned €22. We cleaned everything before leaving. At key handover I paid another €4 for the firewood, and she didn't say anything 😅. Hi everyone, I wouldn't go back.

We rented e-bikes for a day, with fully charged batteries, and had a fantastic ride to Fulda. The apartment was clean and had everything we needed, and the "Heimelige Stube" is lovely. We also had the pool to ourselves for a day. It was clean and well cared for. Breakfast was delicious, with cheeses, cold cuts, cereals, fresh eggs, fruit, homemade jam, and plenty more to choose from. Mrs. Will told us on the first day to just ask if we needed anything or had a special request. We stayed four nights at Landhaus Will and felt very comfortable. Mr. and Mrs. Will were welcoming, answered our questions, and offered useful tips. I really don't understand the previous review. The hospitality and value were excellent, and we'd definitely come back.

A peaceful, idyllic place to unwind and feel at home, with hosts who are incredibly warm and welcoming.
